Fans of Stargirl might be seeing more of their favorite Blue Valley characters sooner than expected. The hit superhero series, executive produced by Geoff Johns, follows Nebraska teen Courtney Whitmore who discovers Starman’s Cosmic Staff, transforms into Stargirl, and inspires a new group of young superheroes to revive the Justice Society of America. The show wrapped up Season 1 in August of 2020, and since that time, there has been much speculation and anticipation about when the series would return and what fans could expect. Here are a few of the latest updates on the show.

What Is the Latest on the Season 2 Release Date?

Stargirl originally premiered on May 18, 2020, and after 13 action-packed episodes, the season ended three months later with an exciting finale that left fans wanting more. The series was officially renewed for a second season, and filming began on October 28, 2020.

It has been announced that Season 2 will be broadcast exclusively on The CW, but episodes will also likely be available for streaming on HBO Max shortly after airing. While a formal premiere date has not yet been announced, the Stargirl Facebook group’s moderator, Lance Ausfresser, has revealed that Season 2 is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 1, 2021.

What Can You Do To Prepare for Season 2?

If you missed Season 1 of Stargirl, it’s not too late to catch up before Season 2 begins. The entire season is available for streaming on The CW, as well as on HBO Max

Who Will Be Appearing in Season 2?

Most of Season 1’s favorite characters are expected to return for more action in Season 2. Fans can expect to see more of:

  • Joel McHale as Starman
  • Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore
  • Yvette Montreal as Yolanda/Wildcat
  • Luke Wilson as Courtney’s stepdad Pat
  • Amy Smart as her mother Barbara
  • Cameron Gellman as Rick/Hourman
  • Neil Hopkins as Larry Crock/Sportsmaster
  • Joy Osmanski as Tigress

There are also plenty of new members joining the cast of Stargirl. Nick Tarabay and Jonathan Cake are taking on the roles of Eclipso and the Shade, while comedian Jim Gaffigan is slated to be the voice for the magical genie, Thunderbolt. Ysa Penarejo, Alkoya Brunson, and John Wesley Shipp are also expected to join the Stargirl cast.

Is There Any Word About a Season 3?

Before Season 2 has even started airing, there have reportedly been discussions about Season 3. Stargirl.TV recently revealed that” conversations regarding a third season of Stargirl are underway and all indications are looking like a season 3 is a go!” Moreover, their sources have indicated that Season 3 will feature Bruce Gordon, the DC Comic character who is the world’s leading solar energy scientist.

While details about Bruce Gordon’s role have not been revealed, many believe that he will play human host to villain Eclipso. If the show stays true to the comic books, whenever an eclipse occurs, Eclipso takes over Gordon’s body and distracts him from doing the critical work he needs to do.

It’s easy to see why Stargirl captured the hearts of superhero fans across the country. Season 1 supplied good versus evil action, as well as a storyline filled with relatable characters, and from all reports, Season 2 promises to deliver that and more!
